Maine Coon Cats are a very unique breed. Unlike other cat breeds, they are highly sociable. Keeping your Maine Coon Cat happy requires more than simply keeping it fed and watered. They need love and attention from you as well.
Your Maine Coon needs toys. Obviously, you will purchase toys that can be used for entertainment and exercise at any time, but you will also purchase toys that require your input with the toy and the cat. Your Maine Coon will greatly appreciate the effort.

Your Maine Coon has claws, and de-clawing is considered inhumane. Instead of doing this to your beloved Maine Coon, invest in nail caps, such as Soft Paws. These can be ordered online or purchased at a pet store, and they come in a wide variety of colors. They are easy to apply, and your Maine Coon won’t mind wearing them at all. In fact, he probably won’t even notice if you distract him immediately after applying them.
Keep your Maine Coon healthy, and free of fleas, ticks, and ear mites. It is easy to see if the cat has fleas – just riffle through his fur and look for them. The same is true for ticks. Ear mites, on the other hand, cannot be seen. Pay attention. If your cat starts scratching at his ears a lot, he probably has ear mites. Ear mite medication can be purchased at your local pet store, or your veterinarian can sell you some.
Finally, feed your Maine Coon a nutritious diet of food that is especially manufactured for his breed. Also, include cat treats on a regular basis. Not only are these truly treats for him, but they also serve to keep his teeth and gums in good condition. Also, keep his litter box as fresh as possible. Cats are notoriously tidy, and they will appreciate a clean litter box.
