Hello fellow pet owner,
Let me tell you a bit about myself. I’m an animal lover. Always have been, always will be. I’d bring home any stray animal that crossed my path. My Dad has put up with more than one "stray" in his day! One that I really begged for was a white German Shepherd that we ended up naming "Snowflake." My Dad put that dog through three heart worm surgeries. She had been found at the stable where I boarded my horse, and had already killed a couple of Phil’s chickens before he finally caught her. She had been running the streets, was very thin and infected with heart worms.
We had "Snowflake" for years. She was a great dog. We all love Shepherds in this family. We have even came home one day to a Saint Bernard sitting in our yard. And he wouldn’t leave. I am NOT making this up. I’ll never forget what my Dad said that day. "Well, what do you do when a Saint Bernard wants to live at your house?" I said, "Well, I guess you keep him." And we did. When "Bernie" died, it took 3 guys to dig the hole and carry him over to be buried. He was a big dog.
So believe me when I say, I have cleaned my fair share of pet messes.
My last dog Zakk, was with me for 10 years. You’ll read all about Zakk in the beginning of my book. You truly haven’t lived until you walk in from work to find huge piles of diarrhea that uncannily look like "cow patties."
And the STENCH. Oh my lord.
Poor Zakk - he couldn’t help it. I wasn’t home to let him out, or he would have told me he had to go. I felt bad for him because he felt guilty, yet bad for me because I was in no mood after a long drive in traffic to deal with "cow patties" in my dining room.
